As the school year draws to a close, it is my pleasure to take a moment to reflect on the incredible energy, creativity and dedication shown by our pupils and staff across the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust. This term – and indeed, the whole year - has been a testament to our core vision, 'beyond expectations for all of God's children.'
The trust has secured results at all statutory markers that are in line with or above national averages. This is the case in Reception, Year 1, Year 4 and Year 6. This is a fantastic achievement and the best ever on our part. I would like to thank all our staff and our wonderful children for all their great efforts with this. Thank you to all our parents and carers as well for all your support.

There has been adventure and challenge aplenty for our older pupils, with many exciting residential and day trips taking place. Year 6 children at Spetisbury CE Primary School embarked on an incredible residential, conquering high wires and enjoying the magic of campfire karaoke. We've also witnessed plenty of fantastic (and mostly sunny) Sports Days, whilst St Bartholomew's Primary Academy embraced the inclusivity of wheelchair basketball, and St James' CE First School proudly celebrated their second consecutive Gold School Games Mark.
Weyfest, our very own Hub arts festival, saw Year 5 children from St John's Primary School, St Nicholas and St Laurence CE Primary School, Beechcroft St Paul's Primary School and St Andrew's CE Primary School come together for an amazing two days, camping overnight and enjoying a wide range of activities. In Wiltshire, our Thrive Hub also celebrated Thrivefest, bringing together Year 6 children within the Hub for a collaborative celebration.
Archbishop Wake CE Primary School announced the exciting news of their new nursery opening in September, further extending our commitment to Early Years provision. This focus on strong foundations was echoed by Dunbury CE Primary Academy, who featured on Greatest Hits Radio to discuss the benefits of school-based nursery places. St Martin's in Salisbury join them as the third school setting up a nursery this summer. This is just a small part of the significant building work that is lined up across our schools over the holiday, using our school condition allocation funding from government.
Music and the arts have played a key role this term across many of our schools. Trent Young's CE School wowed their audience with their Key Stage 2 production of 'Matilda,' whilst The School-O-Vision Song Contest at Beaminster St Mary's Academy was also incredible! St Michael's CE Primary School enjoyed a lovely visit from the Lyme Regis Town Band during collective worship.
Marden Vale CE Academy once again demonstrated their creative flair, winning Best Float at the Calne Summer Carnival for the second year running – a fantastic achievement! There were beautiful bird sculptures created at Cranborne CE First School and Nursery, and, thanks to the incredible efforts of parents, The Trinity CE Primary Academy has welcomed its very own chickens, which are already proving a huge hit with the children and teaching them about responsibility.
Year 6 from St John's CE Primary School visited Bournemouth University to celebrate their recent reading project, also having the chance to attend a graduation ceremony. Excitement levels were high at St Andrew's CE Primary as pupils enjoyed a thrilling science workshop, with smoke rings being a particular highlight!
As ever, at this time of year we say goodbye to a number of people. To our Year 6 children, and those in Year 4 in our First Schools. Thank you for all you have brought to us and we look forward to hearing of your achievements as you move to your new schools. To those staff who are moving on, we wish you well too in whatever comes next. I would particularly like to send my prayers and good wishes to Mrs Murray (Regional Director of Education), Mrs Atkins (Headteacher at Trent Young's) and Mrs Brooke (Headteacher at Durweston). You will all be greatly missed as you move into retirement – thank you for all you have been for so many years.
This is just a glimpse at the wonderful things taking place every day at our schools. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all our dedicated staff, supportive parents and of course, our pupils for making this such a memorable and successful school year. We look forward to continuing to build on these successes in the new school year and wish you all a restful summer break.
